Muscle Injury Therapy

Most dogs live fairly active lives whether its running, play-fighting or fetching.

Think of some of the repetitive activities your dog does on a daily basis, jumping in/out of the car, on/off a bed, excessive running, hard braking when fetching, jumping or twisting.

These can all place significant strain on their body parts which in turn can cause tears to over-worked muscles and tissues.

When an injury occurs to a body part it can develop scar tissue that can leave the body feeling stiff and sore. This then directly affects normal balanced movement which can cause your dog to compensate for the injury, hence carrying their body in an unbalanced state which then becomes 'their new normal'.

Once the scar tissue grows thick and firm the affected muscle becomes contracted (shorter and weaker) which causes pain and leaves the muscle prone to further injury.

How can Massage Therapy help?

As a Certified Canine Massage Therapist l am trained to relieve strained and injured muscles, restoring them to their best function and flexibility.

Massaging sore and stiff muscles helps to reduce scar tissue formation, break down existing scar tissue, remove damaged cells and toxins to stimulate healing after injury, this also helps alleviate pain and stiffness helping restore them to the balanced dog they were before their injury.
