Arthritis Therapy

Arthritis is a degenerative condition that affects one or more joints, resulting in pain from inflammation which progresses over time.

The joints most commonly affected are the hips, knee, elbow, shoulder, carpus and spinal column.

Arthritis causes damage to the joint cartilage resulting in inflammation causing pain.

Pain has a profound impact on a dogs mobility and quality of life and is a common ailment in older dogs.

Although dogs are not able to communicate their level of pain Pet Parents know their dogs and recognise when their dogs are starting to slow down, are reluctant to jump, become stiff and can no longer bounce around like they used to and are no longer able to do the activities that used to make them happy.

How can Massage Therapy help?

Massage is a great therapy for arthritis as it helps reduce pain, increases joint motion, improves muscle and tendon flexibility and most importantly prolongs the deteriorating affects of arthritis.

Canine Massage Therapy is the best way to target stiff muscles which will help to relieve discomfort in your dog.

I also work on other muscle groups that will experience stiffness and pain due to your dogs decreased activity levels as a result of arthritis.

This will help your dogs overall well being.

Canine Massage Therapy helps slow down the process of degeneration by loosening and stimulating the painful, stiff and underused muscles around the joint.

Once the muscles are relaxed they return to their natural lengthened position therefore releasing undue stress that has been put on the already painful joints.

This results in lessening of joint pain caused by excessive amounts of friction between bones and helps your dog live a better quality of life.

NB: Canine Massage Therapy is not a substitute for Veterinary Medical Care but can be used in combination to help alleviate discomfort.
